4th and 5th graders have been exploring art from Asia. Students discussed the mythical creature dragon and it's presence within the japanese and Chinese culture and folklore. Students used this knowledge to create a dragon out of earth clay using their previous sculpture making skills.
2nd grade, 3rd grade and Lower Montessori read the story Rechenka's Egg by the famous Russian author and illustrator Patricia Polacco. Students learned about traditional Pysanky egg traditions and designs in the Ukraine while creating their own oil resist paper painted egg. |
Mrs. hallI am the art teacher and creative coach at Lakewood and Waukazoo Elementary Schools, part of West Ottawa Public Schools. I received my Bachelor and Master of Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm very proud to say that I am an art teacher and truly enjoy exploring the fine arts with my students. I am also a fine artist with a focus in printmaking. It is my joy of teaching that inspires me to be a better artist; the joy of creating my own art work that makes me a better teacher. I am very thankful to have a career in something that I am passionate about and love. Archives
