1st graders just finished creating two clay pottery projects in art class. We are currently learning about Pueblo Native American Pottery and it's history. Students explored the many designs that adorned pottery hundreds of years ago. We discovered many pieces of pottery painted with playful patterned bugs called "Pueblo bugs". Inspired by these bugs, students used their imagination to create their very own Pueblo pattern Bug Drawing.
Students are currently learning about the Art Element of Value. Currently we are creating the illusion of form using Value and shading. We are also learning how to create reverse Value using a white pencil on black paper.
Kinders are learning about the Art Element: SHAPE! Students are exploring different art mediums to create pictures inspired by shapes.
4th and 5th grade students learned about the abstract collage artist Romare Bearden and his famous urban collage called "The Block." Students are currently working in groups to create a large collaborative cityscape inspired by Romare Bearden. |
Mrs. hallI am the art teacher and creative coach at Lakewood and Waukazoo Elementary Schools, part of West Ottawa Public Schools. I received my Bachelor and Master of Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm very proud to say that I am an art teacher and truly enjoy exploring the fine arts with my students. I am also a fine artist with a focus in printmaking. It is my joy of teaching that inspires me to be a better artist; the joy of creating my own art work that makes me a better teacher. I am very thankful to have a career in something that I am passionate about and love. Archives
