First graders have learning about fish body parts and the environment they live in. Students created a fish from observation and imagination. Their imaginary fish began with an art tool they have never used before. First graders traced the soles of their shoes to create the fish body before adding fins and other details.

Kindergaten students continue how to explore the Art Element of Pattern while exploring a new material, metallic markers. 2nd and 3rd graders have been very busy designing their cylinder dreamhouses through 2D drawings and now creating them into 3D Clay Sculptures.
2nd and 3rd grade read the story Rechenka's Egg by Patrica Polacco and learned about the art of Pysanky Eggs made in the Ukrain. Students created their very own paper pysanky using the oil resist method. Students used traditional ukranian designs to adorn their paper eggs in oil pastel and filled in the white areas surrounding the designs with bright neon water color paint. |
Mrs. HallI am the art teacher and creative coach at Lakewood and Waukazoo Elementary Schools, part of West Ottawa Public Schools. I received my Bachelor and Master of Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm very proud to say that I am an art teacher and truly enjoy exploring the fine arts with my students. I am also a fine artist with a focus in printmaking. It is my joy of teaching that inspires me to be a better artist; the joy of creating my own art work that makes me a better teacher. I am very thankful to have a career in something that I am passionate about and love. Archives
