Students are working in groups to create very detailed mixed media city buildinging on heavy duty card board. These buldings will come to together when finished to create a large 3D cityscape in the entrance of our school. This project teaches 2nd and 3rd graders to problem solve and work well with other when collaborating on a project. Students are using their knowledge of oil resist painting and collage to create their very unique buildings. I'm looking forward to sharing this large project with the entire school when it's complete!

Cuicas
4th and 5th graders are doing a collaborative art and music lesson with Ms. Tenbarge and Mr. Loughrin. Students are learning about and creating a Brazillian Percussion Instrument called a Cuica. Students painted recycled cans with brightly colored brazilian influenced patterns and designs in art class. In music class, students will add a reed to their cans to finish the creation of their instrument and learn how to perform with it. Students are learning about realistic artwork and creating pictures of the outdoors called Landscapes. Students used their knowledge of Foreground, Middleground, Background and Horizon Line to create their oil resist landscape paintings. |
Mrs. HallI am the art teacher and creative coach at Lakewood and Waukazoo Elementary Schools, part of West Ottawa Public Schools. I received my Bachelor and Master of Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm very proud to say that I am an art teacher and truly enjoy exploring the fine arts with my students. I am also a fine artist with a focus in printmaking. It is my joy of teaching that inspires me to be a better artist; the joy of creating my own art work that makes me a better teacher. I am very thankful to have a career in something that I am passionate about and love. Archives
