2nd and 3rd grade students are learning how to create realistic art by drawing from observation. Students went out on the playground as a class during art time and chose a tree to draw. They used their new knowledge of drawing the "V" when creating branches. Students also used created texture with drawing pencils to resemble the bark on the tree and intricately added leaves to each branch. Welcome all new and old artists to Lakewood for the 2015-16 school year!! I am so excited to see everyone again and also make new friends. There is a lot to learn in art this year! I have many fun culturally driven art lesson to share with you! It has been enjoyable to hear about summer art camps that students attended over summer break. So excited to know that some of you continue to be creative outside of art class. Below is a picture of Ashlyn Zuidema (third grader) and local artist Carolyn Stich during a summer art camp. Ashyln created beautiful Seascape painting.
Don't forget that ART MAKES YOU SMART and I look forward to seeing you all in the art room this year! |
Mrs. HallI am the art teacher and creative coach at Lakewood and Waukazoo Elementary Schools, part of West Ottawa Public Schools. I received my Bachelor and Master of Art Education at Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm very proud to say that I am an art teacher and truly enjoy exploring the fine arts with my students. I am also a fine artist with a focus in printmaking. It is my joy of teaching that inspires me to be a better artist; the joy of creating my own art work that makes me a better teacher. I am very thankful to have a career in something that I am passionate about and love. Archives
